How to Install a Home Generator Transfer Switch
Home generator transfer switch is a practical tool to have as back-up in the electricity goes out. This mechanism is the transfer of power from the generator to the home appliances when the power is not available. This is the materials you need along with instructions on how to install a home generator transfer switch.
Materials needed:
* Manual transfer switch
* Box inlet flange
* 240-amp circuit breaker
* Junction box
* Wire nuts
* ¾-inch Flexible channel
* Conduit connector
Step 1: Disabling the Power Line Home
Find the main power breaker off. Regulate the transfer switch panel to the nearest house to the service panel. Both panels should be installed by using the channel.
Step 2: Attach Wires
Secure the cable to serve the two panels. Connect the white wires and ground to a white bar and their land from the service panel and transfer switch.
Step 3: Circuit Breaker
Use 30-amp breaker. This sets the service panel. Connect the red and black wires from the cables of the circuit breaker. Interlock tabs of the bus service to the circuit breaker panel. Connect the other end of the red and black wires to “the electric cable” attachment is the transfer switch panel.
Step 4: Total Watt Ladder
Determine what electrical circuit should work with the generator to calculate the total wattage appliances that require power. Pocket money of about 20 percent should be provided as start-up operation.
Step 5: Circuit Breaker Wiring
Take the black cable from the circuit breaker panel services. Extending the cable to a circuit breaker that will eventually switch to use wire nuts to achieve the transfer switch panel is using the channel. The end of the cable to be attached to the breaker switch wire transfer if the renewal beans used.
Step 6: Junction Box Transfer Switch Panel
Setting the preferred circuit wire connection that comes from connecting to the transfer switch breakers and bus bars exactly where the intersection points of the method used.
Step 7: Installation of Inlet Box Flange
Check whether the transfer switch panel that has a 30-amp flanged inlet connection. If this is not available, required the installation. Setting inbox flanged outside the home near the generator to make a hole in the wall. Use this cable to close the distance to the transfer switch panel. Main points of the exterior walls. Arrange the cable with the correct color appointment.
Step 8: Attach cables
Connect the wires by the transfer switch panel to the ground and neutral wires are also tied to the ground and neutral bus bar. Connect the black and red cables into “the generator” feeder links.
Step 9: Final Connections
Attach a positive-twist lock plug the generator into the house. A negative-twist lock plug to be connected to the flanged connection to the transfer switch panel. Complete the connection of the wirings color appointed to the terminal.
